21 Songs for World Peace

February 23, 2017

Music is probably my favorite medicine. If something feels wrong, there's a song to make it better. And it works with kids, too. Calming, peaceful, joyful, cheerful music and lyrics set the tone! Using music in the classroom literaly allowed me to suvive my practicals during my studies in Education. It allowed me to get the kids attention, to bring them together, help them focus around yoga stretches, breathing exercices, guided vizualisations... social, resilience, growth mindset skills and school work. Win. I also get fantastic results for making tidy up a fun dance party, cheer up grumpy ones or relax before nap or bed time.

Songs are just like spells that shape our reality. They become our thoughts, words, actions, moods, habits, temper... Fill your house and classroom with sparkles of love, hope and joy with some Playing For Change medicine: a world peace through music project!

1. Love is All

"This Song Around The World episode shows children across the globe performing “Love Is All.” Turn it up, spread it around and lets make the world a better place one heart and one song at a time… Join the movement!!"

2. United

"In 2011, Playing For Change joined forces with the United Nations Population Fund and the Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund for UNPF’s 7 Billion Actions campaign. By the end of that year, the world population reached 7 billion, and this global campaign strove to bring awareness to the opportunities and challenges that the population growth would present. 7 billion people means 7 billion hearts, and music has always been the best way to speak to the hearts of the people. We traveled across the globe, put headphones on musicians, added them to the track, and created “United,” which serves as a tangible example of something positive we can all do together as a human race."

3. A Better Place

"Released on International Human Rights Day in 2012, this video was created through a partnership between PFC and the United Nations Millennium Development Goals Achievement Fund. We realize that true change for the good of everyone always comes from the hearts of the people, and with music we can unite together to make the world a Better Place."

About Playing for Change

"Playing For Change is a movement created to inspire and connect the world through music. The idea for this project came from a common belief that music has the power to break down boundaries and overcome distances between people.

[...] These musicians come from many different countries and cultures, but through music they speak the same language. [...] We therefore created the Playing For Change Foundation,a separate 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to building music and art schools for children around the world, and creating hope and inspiration for the future of our planet. No matter who you are or where you come from, we are all united through music.Support this movement by becoming a Member , and together we will make the world a better place."
